Two things, first I would like to say that it is a pleasure to be able to converse in conversation with one of the Greatest of All Time Sonny Puzikas of Forward Training Concepts. Secondly, I want you to keep in mind that there is always more than one way to skin a cat. This is especially true when it comes to clearing Pistol Malfunctions. This is not to say that the “Tap, Rack, and Bang” method of clearing Pistol Malfunctions is obsolete; but after having a brief chat with Sonny Puzikas of Forward Training Concepts on Facebook I made the decision that I should answer his call to action and provide some insight in how VODA and VODA Clients may choose to clear Pistol Malfunctions.
Like any method or systematic way of doing things the ICO Method™ will have its delimitations. What I mean by this is that it will not work for Pistol Malfunction such as a Double Feed, as these types of Pistol Malfunctions require Remedial Action. Likewise, the Tap, Rack, and Bang Method may not be feasible in all applications because of the variables of time and or distance. No matter if you are a Shooter, Gun-Fighter or Civilian Operator™, I would to leave you with this simple formula when considering anything that has to the variables Time and Distance.
