COMPREHENSION | DISRESPECT IN THE GUN GAME

This is wrong and I hope to never see another "target" like this again.

While shooting on the range this past week for the weapons qualification portion of training. I have to say I found one thing very disturbing, if not outright disrespectful. For those that actually know me and those that I have provided training sessions for know and understand that I do not tolerate any form of disrespect not only myself but disrespect towards anyone in general. That is unless they place themselves in my lane and then I am forced to deal with them accordingly.

However, while qualifying on the range I really took a huge issue with the types of targets that were being used as well “targets”. In addition, if I had it my way I would never shoot at or even have in my possession the types of targets that are dangerous and out disrespectful representations of the Leaders, Popes, Ministers, Presidents, Kings or Queens or Prime Ministers of any country no matter how I feel about them.

What is even more disturbing was that no one in the range qualification class took issues with the “targets” that were being used! When I asked the question: “Do you know who is on the targets?” No one even knew who it was. One person within the range qualifying section stated: “It’s that Frankenstein?” Without any negative connotations towards this individual within our group, in my mind I’m like: "What the fuck?!" That’s when I informed all of them that that was a picture of either the past of current President of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Kim Jong-il / Kim Jong-un.

I also took the timeout to make the comparison of what if someone made an Obama or Trump target for you to shoot at. So, this begs the question: “If it’s not OK for us to make a "target" depicting a U.S. President getting shot at/assassinated, then why is it OK for us to make "targets" of another President getting shot at/assassinated?” In short, its not and never will be OK. This is yet another reason why so many people around the world have no respect for the United States. One person within our group says: “Well it’s” Free Speech””. Again, I call bullshit on that.

Why? Because there is no such thing as “free” anything in this world - everything cost. Like the Great Milton Friedman (Economist) said, “There is no such thing as a Free Lunch.” This also includes “Speech” and you should always and will be held accountable for what you say. We can do better than this and we should do better than this.
