Can you believe this guy - stop messing up my stuff! If you are going to disagree use a REAL GUN!
Now, this was actually interesting! And sorry for the late reply! Yes, I was getting my feet done again (love those pedicures)! Even though the author of this video is being judgmental I applaud him for taking the time out to "respond" to the E.D.A./E.C.K. shooting platform that I created. There is somethings that are simply not right about the way in which he is attempting to "debunk" it for a lack of better terms.
Now I don’t know which video he [yo ass too] actually took the time out to watch, but it appears he [you] may have watched the Slow Motion video capture that was recorded. In contrasting real-time, outside the confines of the initial TRIAL DRILL (slow-motion), it actually took me 3 - 3.5 seconds to actually neutralize 2 Aggressors. And again for educational purposes that was only one time me running the drill for the first time in real-time.
let us be factual, if you are going to run my drill or anyone of my drills and "respond" or what you and many other call a "challenge" (which neither you or them are not); let me educate you on some of the premises of why I do what I do here at VODA.
0.) THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS THE PREMISE OF WHY I AM DOING WHAT I DO- IF YOU DON'T KNOW IT, DON'T PRETEND THAT YOU DO!!!!
You simply cannot judge and Apple using Coconut lenses. If you can't understand that this STOP READING HERE.
1.) We move towards our threats - we don’t move backwards unless there is absolute reason to do so. And to create space isn’t one of them.
2.) The knife and the gun DO NOT have to be deployed at the same time. Let us understand that this specific drill called for that.
3.) In CQC/CQB while using E.D.A./E.C.K. you can deploy way more violence with a knife than with a gun any day of the week.
4.) Get your knife strikes right. We are looking to slash/swipe the neck/face of our Adversary for this drill, administer one round to the abdomen, stab and or Anchor with the knife to the body of the Adversary, shoot him in the face and then engage another Adversary to end the drill.
5.) There is a reason as to why we use real guns. And that is because of how the brain will process the engagement that the observer is observing and being a participant in.
See it’s easy to say "it supposed to be faster". However, yet again your cognitive bias [and the cognitive biases of many others] is at work here. YOU ARE USING A TOY NOT A REAL FIREARM. Thus, the brain/body will not treat it [your toy gun] the same. If you cannot understand this you are simply not ready to go to the "next level".
How it is done
Point number 5 can be also augmented by the fact that while you were demonstrated, you said:
"I’m not going to shoot myself in the hand with my real pistol".
It is this revelation in itself in that it alone that lets me know that as an Educator, you do not have the confidence required to press the trigger in this advanced drill, let alone actually deploy it in real life.
6.) In order to run this drill you must have fluidity and muscle memory. These are two things that you are lacking. Failing to acquire these two prerequisites of several others, will (as it did with you) result in poor performance and that "awkward feeling" that you are experiencing while "responding for the first time" in your video.
7.) And I will leave it here, it took me one my first time negotiating the drill 3 to 3.5 seconds to extract, draw, and engage TWO aggressors.
Knowing that, I can officially say: “I’m faster than you.” But again, I’d give you a D+ because at least you did at least try. And to think that he called me retarded speaks volumes to the bigotry in the Gun Game. This is why I had to get off FACEBOOK - I can't deal with people like this.
