For those that don't know at VODA incorporates Physics, Cybernetics and Cognitive Processing into the training that all VODA Clients receive. Remember I am trans- disciplinary. So in order to grasp the reading material that you’re presently viewing I need you to first seek to obtain a little information and or knowledge on "Quantum Physics" and "Quantum Mechanics" as well as knowledge on Eisenstein's General Theory of Relativity. In addition, in order to digest the current reading I going to need you as a reader to also obtain a firm grasp on Colonel John Boyd's O.O.D.A. Feedback Loop.
With that said, let's getting into our reading. Many people may not be familiar with the Hick-Hyman Law. It is a Law that was constructed to help us make sense of how people make judgment calls, this is relevant to the Gun-Fighter in that it works within the O.O.D.A. Loop Feedback Cycle. Remember, we are talking Cybernetics here!
The Hick-Hyman Law was discovered and written by two Psychologists one of British (William Edmund Hick) and the other of American descent (Ray Hyman) through human experimentation. The Hick-Hyman Law turned out to be a kind of lucid overlapping cumulative effort by these two Psychologist given the fact that they never worked together per se (one only having a different positon than the other.
William Edmund Hick specialized in Experimental Psychology and published a paper entitled: "On the rate of gain of information" in which his publication was centered around Human Information Processing. Ray Hyman on the other hand (with a little controversy regarding who did what first) took more of a cognitive stance regarding the studying of human judgment calls / decision making rather than focusing strictly on Human Information Processing.
So it is at this point in time that you're probably asking yourself the following question:
"What in the hell does this have to do with Gun-Fighting?"
Let us triangulate the correlation between the Hick-Hyman Law, Human Information Processing / judgement calls as it relates to Gun-Fighting which is as follows:
The basis of the Hicks-Hyman argument lies in the following premise:
"The more choices an Observer (in our case a Shooter or Gun-Fighter) has to choose from the longer the decision-making process will be for the Observer to reach their end goal or end result."
On the surface of things this may hold true. However, new advances in technology, especially in the realm of Quantum Mechanics and Quantum Physics state otherwise. And there lies the problem. Consider the fact that if we are built off of the fundamental building blocks of the Multi-Verse which would be subatomic particles and those subatomic particles are governed by the Laws of Quantum Physics. Then theoretically we can induce that, by default, the Gun-Fighter would have to also adhere to those same Laws as well.
Which means that the Gun-Fighter would not only have to adhere to Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle; he or she would have to operate according to it by default. Thus, the Gun-Fighter would have the ability to exist in at least two states, at two or more different TIME’s and then not at all. Why, or better yet how is this so? Because of Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principal which will be retrofitted for the Shooter or Gun-Fighter and summed up as:
"The more you know about the position or state of a Gun-Fighter less likely you are to know a Gun-Fighters momentum and vice versa."
Obviously no human can physically exist in two or places at the same time within our "reality" unless we can somehow make great use of Particle Physics in relation to physical objects. The same goes for the Parallel Universe Theory, we would have to somehow make it a "reality". However, What Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principal translate into in reference to the Shooter or Gun-Fighter is:
"You may physically observe the Shooter or the Gun-Fighter but by no means will you be able to pinpoint exactly which direction or "momentum" (the mind state) or action he or she will take. In fact, the Shooter or the Gun-Fighter can exist in two states: one being the physical and one being in the mind. Which in this case, we can predict neither with 100% accuracy."
To further complicate the issue we have to incorporate the illusion of TIME which again is one of the variables that we must not only account for but we must triangulate and make a direct correlation for when it comes a Shooter or Gun-Fighter making a decision or how they will cognitively process information.
TIME lies in the eye of the Observer(s)
Going back to the Hick-Hyman Law it states (paraphrasing) that the more options one has to choose from the more TIME one will take to reach the end result of the action that is relevant to the situation or event. Again, on the surface of things this is true. However, TIME is technically an illusion and TIME is not tangible. It is something that can only be observed within relationship to a Vector, Point, Change or event as it happens within an observable Space.
For without a Vector and a Space within the Space / Time Continuum THERE IS NO TIME, IT SIMPLY DOES NOT EXIST. Hence, TIME becomes subject to the relativity to the Observers of the Vector and Space within the Space / Time Continuum. What this means is that TIME as you know it is NOT LINEAR IT IS NON-LINEAR.
SIDE NOTE: We currently define time by the frequency (fq) of microwave electron vibrations that vibrate from an Alkali metal Caesium (Cesium) which used in Atomic Clocks to measure the TIME down to the most accurate second which is 9,192,631,770 cycles of emitted radiation between the two spins of electron energy levels.
Consequently this means that the TIME it takes for one to make a selection to achieve an end goal regardless of how many choices one has to choose from will be relative to both the Subject / Observer (Shooter and Gun-Fighter) and on looking Observer(s). Why is this relevant to the Shooter and the Gun-Fighter?
It [Tachy-Psyche] can and will make all the difference. To further exacerbate the Logic we must turn to a case study. Take the following Case Study entitled: "Training takes over: A Canadian officer fights like he trained",written by Steve Walton, PoliceOne columnist and reprinted in partnership with Law Officer Magazine. Steve Walton reported the following:
"As a result of a well-documented neuro-physiological phenomenon known as Tachy-Psyche, I experienced auditory exclusion, tunnel vision and time-space perceptual distortions during this incident. Tachy-Psyche is essentially the reaction of the body to adrenaline, which can force unsuspecting individuals to act in a manner counterproductive to survival."
"I experienced a distortion in time perception as well-everything occurred in my mind's eye at an extreme rate of speed."
I was not there, you were not there but I can tell you one thing for sure my fellow Officer had to make a decision from an undetermined amount of choices. It could have been 1 choice or it could have been 100 choices point being - TIME as he knew it became distorted.
Remember in order for there to be "TIME" you must have a Vector and you must have a Space. As reported by the Officer:
"At approximately 0345 HRS, my partner and I received a "property damage in progress" call, a rather innocuous call. I was operating the marked patrol unit, and at the time we received the radio call, we were actually driving by the address the call came from."
Proving my position, had the Officer(s) did not receive that call which included a Vector or event: "property damage in progress" and the Space would be: "address", then TIME would be irrelevant or it doesn't exist.
With that being said, let's go back and examine whether or not TIME is Linear. And the answer to that it that is that it is not. TIME is both Linear and Non- Linear. What I mean by that is yes, on the surface TIME as you know it appears to move in one direction - forward. This is simply because we agreed for it to be so because we can observe the changes that occur as our agreed upon notion of TIME travels forward. Likewise the Gun-Fighter can observe the impact his or her rounds have on an aggressor over TIME, Which will be observed in (thousandth) seconds.
However, upon further review the Aristotelian Logic where "things are either A or not A" breaks down and beginning of "Lucienian Logic" (lol) or Non-Linear Logic takes over to explain what cannot be explained through Aristotelian Logic. In this case the variable "TIME" is under observation.
So, TIME when we go underneath the surface we can see it becomes Non-Linear. The Observer will be able perceive TIME going forward, backward, paused, parallel (simultaneously), bifurcated (groups and crowds of Observer), faster and slower (vertical and horizontal) respectively. This is the essence of Non-Linearity.
So, in seeking to understand the length of TIME it takes for one to make a decision regarding “X” amount of variables will be determined two or more Observers in which they may observe TIME different. For example: some may say it took 5 minutes for someone to complete a task. Another set of Observers may see that it took three minutes for someone to complete a task.
However, there could also be an Observer who is actually measuring the test in relationship to the vector in the event may say it's a 2.5 minutes to complete the task. In all three of the examples TIME becomes irrelevant for the exception of one. And the one exception would be the last Observer with a reading of 2.5 minutes. Why, because they should or would most likely have a device that is internationally agreed upon to measure TIME.
